The MD-CX range of magnetic drive stainless steel electric pumps is enriched with a new model called MD-CX 206. This model is positioned at the top of the range following the MD-CX 106, but opens the way to a new category characterized by greater flow rates and lower hydraulic heads.
Presented at the PLAST 2023 fair in Milan, they have already completed the engineering process and are ready for production.
Why this new model?
MD-CX 206 was born from specific sector needs that Simaco wanted to explore in depth, opening magnetic drive to applications not previously foreseen, and partly unachievable due to the characteristic curves. This is the first of a series of peripheral electric pumps without mechanical seals aimed at maximizing flow performance, which Simaco will develop in the coming years.
For which applications are they suitable?
Industrial thermoregulation plants or systems connected to the manufacturing sectors, specifically the die-casting of aluminum or the injection molding of plastic materials.
The available versions allow use with liquids usually used in the sector such as pressurized water up to 200°C (WT) and diathermic oil with temperatures up to 350°C (HT). The special CT version also allows use in sectors where the temperature drops below 0°C, cryogenic applications for which the electric pumps are guaranteed up to liquid temperatures of -100°C.
The complete separation between motor and pump group allows for high safety on the system, avoiding risks of leakage of high temperature liquids which could damage the system or people.
What are the functional characteristics?
Unlike the sizes from 36 to 106, the new pumps are characterized by high flow rates and lower heads. The MD-CX 206 reaches 103l/min, an increase of 20l/min compared to the MD-CX 106. The IE3 efficiency motor guarantees high efficiency and reduced power involved compared to the competitor, of maximum 2,75kW at 50Hz.
What are the construction features?
All sizes starting from the MD-CX 96 are powered by a Gr.90 asynchronous motor. For the MD-CX 206, Simaco managed to obtain particular performances as required by the sector, keeping the motor and the magnetic coupling that transmits the torque to the impeller unchanged. This allows Simaco to have a uniform range, to optimize internal assembly equipment, warehouse and purchasing management. The dimensions are the same as the MD-CX 106 with a length of 454÷490mm based on the type of motor, provided with 3/4″ BSPP threaded connections and with a standard 3/4″ SAE flange.
Are alternative motors available?
To maximize performance it is possible to replace the asynchronous motors with the most recent PMSM (Permanent Magnet Sensorless Motor) that Simaco has introduced in the catalog for several years now. These motors allow the characteristic curve to be broadened by operating the system from 50 to 4000 rpm, with an increase in efficiency and reduction of electricity consumption in the work phases. Reduction in weight and size, possibility of remote control and connection in an industry 4.0 perspective complete the properties of these innovative motors.
